Pub Standards XLIX: The Pub Standards Christmas Party

17 December 2009 original upcoming entry

It's the 49th Pub Standards and, more importantly, it's the traditional Pub Standards Christmas Party, for web people far and wide to undertake a pilgrimage to the Bricklayer's Arms, guided by the shining lights of Gresse Street to worship their saviour, beer. By "Party" we don't mean venue hire, elaborate tinsel-based decoration, balloons, sausages on a stick and copious photocopies of bare asses. What you *can* expect is, if history is anything to go by, the biggest Pub Standards turn out of the year; many web design/development/whatever professionals, enthusiasts, their friends, hangers-on and inquisitive elves, a large number of whom will quite possibly be wearing Santa hats. If you're a regular, you'd be a King Herod to miss it. If you're an irregular, just too unsociable to be bothered with the gruelling schedule of meeting up ONCE A MONTH (wink), this is surely the one not to miss. If you're a newcomer, it's the perfect opportunity to meet up with lots of like-minded people. As usual, things will kick off at around 6 but there are plans afoot, for those who really mean business, for an all-dayer, which has recently become another Pub Standards Christmas tradition. So if you're willing and able, the plan is to meet up at the Bricklayer's from 12pm, head to Benito's Hat (http://www.benitos-hat.com/) at about 2pm and then pick up the Pub Standards pubbing once more at around 4pm. It's quite possible things may change a little, so keep an eye on the mailing list (http://lists.pubstandards.co.uk/listinfo.cgi/beer-pubstandards.co.uk) if you're interested.
